These native Minnesotans feel very much at home now in Texas, and sure don’t miss the snow and cold! ‘Paradise Found’ is the name we’ve chosen for our ranch style stone home on the Blanco River…you’ll see why if you visit this charming ‘big-little’ home and cottage. The lot is long and narrow with a spectacular deep water view. We enjoy the ‘Disney-like’ production daily of geese, deer, turtles, heron, birds and butterflies from the river-facing screened porch and patio. The home’s interior is open and spacious with 9′ ceilings and 8′ sliders.
The Great Room features a 16′ limestone wall with a corner fireplace. The furnishings throughout are very eclectic…mixing Orientals with Kilims, majolica pottery and oyster plates with crystal, primitive pine and oak with painted and carved Mexican pieces. Our philosophy about decorating is ‘if you like it, buy it!’ Obviously, it works well for us in this warm and comfortable showplace. As retired realtors, we’ve had years of visual training and home building experience. This is our first time we have built our own home (we have rehabbed many) and we only visited the job twice during its 5 month construction.
We attribute our 100% satisfaction outcome from doing an extensive search process for the perfect builder and designing the perfect house plan prior to building. We hired a Wimberley builder, Sidney Thompson of S.B. Thompson Construction, to build our dream home based on his quality, professionalism, integrity and communication skills. We also visited his prior jobs and interviewed the homeowners. We knew then that he shared our vision.
