S.B. Thompson Construction built the building for my supermarket in Mason, Texas in 2006. Throughout the process, from engineering to completion I found them to be highly professional, knowledgeable and conscientious. The project was completed ahead of schedule. The quality of the finished product is excellent. The building was completed on budget, which in itself is an accomplishment considering material price increases and change orders. The key to success in any project is communication and Sidney did an excellent job communicating throughout each phase of the project. His relationship with his subcontractors appeared seamless and highly professional. For quality well thought-out construction in a commercial application, I would recommend S.B. Thompson Construction without reservation.

Canyon Lake ACE Hardware - Canyon Lake, TX
In 2003 I assumed control and ownership of Wimberley ACE Hardware, a successful hardware retail store for over 30 years. In our long term plans was the expansion to our second store. We determined Canyon Lake to be our best location and began the long process of financing and construction in 2004. A major part of this project was to choose the right contractor to head the development of the property and ready it to be occupied. In our study of the construction companies in our area along with a review of completed projects S.B. Thompson Construction was the clear choice for the Canyon Lake project.

After awarding the bid to Thompson Construction we found Mr. Thompson’s reputation was well founded. He is a pleasure to interact with. Our project involved five acres of property with a 32,000 square foot retail building. In a development of this size you can be sure of many unexpected surprises and Mr. Thompson addressed every issue that came up head-on and found acceptable resolution every time. We were especially impressed with the professional resources he has developed over his years of experience. This was especially helpful as those unexpected issues arose and he had the perfect person to call on to assist in resolution. Despite our many unexpected hurdles involving environmental and state agency added costs Mr. Thompson was able to complete the project a head of time and with minimal cost over runs. Without Mr. Thompson’s intervention those cost would have been substantially more. The quality of the finished product was above expectations and should serve us well for decades to come. As with any new project, when completed and lived with a while you find things you would do differently but in this situation they have proven to be very few. We were blessed to have a company the caliper of Thompson Construction to take on and complete our project. This was quite an ordeal and they made it much easier to get to the end and see it open and productive.

Mr. Thompson has successfully completed three major projects on our campus during the past three years: 2007 – The Alumni Plaza is a major focal point on campus. The Plaza was part of our Centennial Celebration and was a custom project utilizing unique features from our former campus. 2008 – Campus storage facility. While this project was a standard metal building, the site presented some unique challenges to meet the needs of a sloping lot. 2009 – The Mafrige Fitness Center was a unique addition to an existing structure. We were pleased that upon completion, the structure appears to be part of the original construction. We were very pleased with Mr. Thompson’s diligence to detail and communication throughout the course of construction. He always kept our best interests in mind.

Just under two years ago, S.B. Thompson Construction completed the construction on Tri-Tech’s new office building in San Marcos, Texas. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the services you provided throughout the process. This particular project was unique and held its fair share of obstacles. Off-site utility challenges were inherited, but you all did a great job expediting all the issues that arose as timely as possible. The plans I provided to S.B. Thompson Construction contained many omissions and RFI’s, but Sid and Scott did a tremendous job helping develop and revise the plans with assistance from specific tradesmen. Because of their dedication and strife, they were able to obtain accurate cost estimates from contractors and ultimately construct our office building “the right way”.
I would strongly recommend Thompson Construction to developers for any commercial or residential projects. I do not condone cutting corners and feel as though Thompson Construction and all of their sub-contractors were of the same mindset. I will certainly use Thompson construction again for any future projects. I greatly appreciate all your professionalism, ethics, and integrity as people and as contractors.
